The last time I played this course, it was not in very good shape. This time, it was improved in all areas: tees, fairways, greens. The new owners have made a big effort to upgrade the course and it shows.

It is the course I play most often (almost weekly). It is better than the other public course in town (Davis Golf Course). While I like Wildhorse, I wouldn't rave about it.

A good value in a challenging course playable year-round. Four sets of tees provide opportunities for players of varied abilities to challenge their game. Greens almost always in nice shape. Only bogey is lack of sand in, and the general conditions of, the bunkers; something that can be said of most public courses in our area.

This was the 2nd time I've played the course and I've played well there both times. It was a little dry and hard which meant a lot of run off the tee, but the greens seemed to be pretty receptive and rolled pretty true. There really isn't anything about the course that strikes me as "memorable", but it is a nice layout. Not too difficult, either (I shot 1 under my 8 handicap from the white tees), although I do see potential difficulty from the shortness of the course at those tees. GPS was invaluable. I want to go back and play the course from the blue tees.

Would travel: 20-30 Miles
Bottom line: I would play again

This is a well maintained course that is always playable year-around. The fairways are always well maintained, which is not always the case in the greater Sacramento area. The course is bisected by a wide drainage area that must be crossed several times. I find this grinds on one after awhile, and necessitates mere mortals to lay up frequently (especially on windy days). The challenges the course presents make it interesting, and after you play it a few time and learn where to place your ball, and challenges are not beyond the average golfer. The views are very good from most of the holes, especially along the north side.

Course drains exceptionally well after rain. Fairways and greens regularly in good shape. Layout calls for good course management. I recommend the course highly

The course was in good shape for the season. There were a few backups on the par 3s but the pace of play was good overall. There is an amiable 19th hole and the prices are reasonable.

Has a variety of risk reward holes. Some driveable par 4 holes but bunkers are placed to catch drives that are not accurate. Balanced with long par 5s. Some holes that force you to carry hazards. While they are not long in distance if the wind is blowing in your face it makes club selection difficult.

Good course for the money. It is not a hard course, but is definitely not for beginners. You must be able to hit at least 200 yards in the air to clear some of the gaps.
